Meeting
December 15, 2004
A. The North Carolina Pretreatment Consortium Meeting was called to order at 12:41pm on December 15, 2004 by Monica Hayes, 2004 NC-PC Inc. Secretary, at the home of Ms. Martie Groome
and Mr. Glen McGirt in Greensboro, North Carolina
B. Members in Attendance were: Martie Groome, Bill Gintert, Dolores Bradshaw, Reginald Hicks, Joan Wall, Allen Isley, Mark Lovitt, Joe McNeely, Chris Bortnick, Carol (Rogers) Bell, Glen
McGirt, Ralph Potter, Charles Van Zandt, Steve Haller, Donald Smith, Monica Hayes, Cheryl Tilley, Sharon Miller, Amy Varinoski, Nicole Johnston, Rickie Stutts, Doug Troutman, Scott Austin,
Jimmy Rickert, Aaron Otten, Sherry Bagwell, Jill Hutchinson, Beverly Metcalf, Cheryl Douglas, Scott Pickard. Non-members attending were: Jeff Poupart, Dana Folley, Daryl Merrit.
C. Minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.
D. The 2005 NC-PC Pretreatment Conference will be held August 21-23, 2005 at the Hilton Charlotte City Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Co-Chairs of the 2005 Conference Planning
Committee are Ms. Martie Groome and Mr. Scott Pickard. The meeting was opened with a request from Ms. Groome and Mr. Pickard for new members for the Planning Committee. Ms. Groome and
Mr. Pickard also announced their intention to survey the NC-PC membership as to conference program ideas and preferences.
E. Old Business
- Tax-exempt Status
Our tax-exempt status has been approved by the IRS.
- By-Laws
There were 65 ballots returned in the vote on the proposed By-Laws Amendments, distributed to the membership September 17, 2004 with responses due by
midnight October 17, 2004. The vote was unanimously in favor of the proposed changes. All proposed changes were passed.
- 2004 NC-PC Pretreatment Conference
No official update from the Conference Planning Committee regarding attendance, revenues and costs. However, Mr. John Gibson, 2004 NC-PC Treasurer,
reported that the conference appeared to have turned a profit.
- Website
Mr. Rob Allen submitted his resignation as webmaster on October 21, 2004. Mr. John Gibson volunteered to fill that role. The redesign of the website
is moving forward under the direction of Ms. Sherry Bagwell. We hope to have the new site operational in January 2005.
- Certification
Based upon the surveys from the conference, the NC-PC Pretreatment Certification School will rotate locations. For 2005, the Certification Board hopes
to be able to offer the Grade I Course as well as a new Grade III Course.
F. New Business
The following items were addressed/presented by Ms. Sherry Bagwell, 2005 NC-PC Chairman:
- Distributed copies of the changes in the NC Model Sewer Use Ordinance.
- Communication from the Attorney General’s Office says that fines issued by MUNICIPALITIES do NOT have to go to the school system.
- Ms. Bagwell has been working on a history of the NC-PC which will appear on the new website.
- An update to Chapter 9 of the Pretreatment Comprehensive Guide has been presented to the NC DWQ PERCS unit for approval.
- The NC-PC will offer a 6-hour workshop for industry personnel in 2005. There will be 6 topics to cover surcharges, basic lab, limits development and “PT Suicide”. The presentations
have already been developed. Ms. Bagwell also asked for a volunteer to chair the planning for this event.
G. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 1:03pm.
H. The next meeting of the NC-PC will be held February 10, 2005 at 10:30am at the Lake Mackintosh Marina Clubhouse in Burlington, North Carolina. The Clubhouse is located at 2704 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington, NC.
There will not be a speaker at this meeting. Instead, the topic will be an open discussion on pretreatment documentation and organization. Please bring with you any documents or other organizational tools which help you get
your job done efficiently and effectively.
